I co-hosted an after dinner conversation at the duckweed conference being held this week at Rutgers University in New Jersey. Photo courtesy Eduardo Mercovich
Today’s presentations were mostly centered around genome sequencing and one on genetics for increasing lipids for biofuel. Tonight Eduardo Mercovich from MamaGrande hosted the after dinner conversation and had everyone busy populating a duckweed “intent” roadmap. Think of it as a To Do list of sorts.. It was very focused and a powerful brainstorming session by the people who know their subject matter better than anyone else on the planet. I sat in on the commercialization group along with Ryan Integlia, Dr. John Cross, Cees Gaw, and two new ILA Round Table members. BTW: John gave a wonderful presentation this AM on how he started The Charms of Duckweed.website. He mentioned Paul Skillicorn and Louis Landesman as contributors.
I’ve gotten to visit with Klaus Appenroth a few times and he has promised to key out two duckweed samples for me.
To bad I had to miss this conference. Hope to be back soon in the con calls
