Duckweed Farming Booth Draws Crowds
June 9, 2013

Yesterday was the unveiling of my new company and test pond at a fundraising event in Wingo, KY. I gave brief tours of the pond and shared how duckweed can be used for many applications. Folks were blown away by its potential. They also got a kick out of my product samples. The wind blew heavily the day before the event so the duckweed was pushed to one end as this picture shows. Yesterday, however, brought calm weather. This allowed the surface to even out like a beautiful carpet of green. Many thanks to the McCords for hosting the fundraiser for St. Judes Children’s Hospital and allowing me to conduct my duckweed trials on their farm. Also thanks to Linda King of Mayfield, KY who designed my banner!

Tamra, I visit on occasion. I love the story! I’m going to have to work on telling more of a story with my blog . . . and less preaching to the audience. You’re an inspiration to us all!

Thank you, Mohamed. I’ve harvested close to 300 gallons of duckweed from this pond already and am getting better at balancing all variables for a continual, consistent harvest. You can’t take out more than you, the air, and the sun put in.
